Michael Hutchence- the tragic day of decline

Michael Hutchence was the vocalist of the famous band INXS, of which he had great success worldwide with albums of great commercial success.

They started in 1980, but it was in 1987 with the album Kick that the band exploded in the world with the main successes, such as "Never Tear us Apart", "New Sensation" and "Need You Tonight", which was the main winner of the MTV Video Music Awards of the time.

In 1990 with the release of album X, Michael started dating pop singer Kylie Minogue.

In 1991 INXS did a super tour "Live Baby Live" which resulted in a live CD.

In mid-1991, the relationship between Michael and Kylie ended, which led Hutchence to her new romance, with model Helena Christensen.

After just two months on the phone, Michael and Helena took on a serious relationship, and ended up in shows with famous designers. Michael spent much of his free time at his villa in Nice, southern France, where he cultivated friendships with famous neighbors Bono, Simon Le Bon, Naomi Campbell, Johnny Depp, Kate Moss, The Edge, Lenny Kravitz and Larry Mullen Jr. Michael lent Johnny Depp one of his favorite shirts and, accidentally, the shirt caught fire at one of the parties in Paris.

Michael's decline began in August in Copenhagen, where Hutchence was involved in an episode, described by Helena Christensen (his companion at the time), in which a conflict with a taxi driver caused him to fall and hit his head on the ground. “He was unconscious on the floor and blood was running through his mouth and ear. I thought he died, ”recalls the Danish model. "When he woke up in the hospital, he became so violent that the nurses let him go without further tests."

This incident left sequels and, as reported by his former band partners, it was from there that the musician began to behave normally associated with bipolarity. “It's no longer the Michael we knew,” says Kirk Pengilly, guitarist at INXS. “Sometimes we had Michael normal and on other days he was violent and irritating. He was bipolar, erratic, and he also started to be like that in music ”.

The vocalist never revealed to anyone that his skull and nerves were irreparably damaged and that he would end up totally losing his sense of smell and taste. All of this led to crises of depression and drug use. It was in this self-destructive scenario that he started the affair with Paula Yates, Bob Geldof's wife.

In 1996, Paula became pregnant with Hutchence and together they had a baby girl, Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily Hutchence, better known as Tiger Lily. However, Paula's legal fight with Geldof over custody of their daughters brought conflict to the romance. Hutchence wanted to go back to Australia, but he didn't want to be away from his daughter. Geldof was not relieved in the negotiation of having shared custody of his daughters, thus preventing Paula from leaving England.

Hutchence traveled to Sydney to begin the tour with INXS to begin his 20-year career. Paula would then go, taking her daughters. On 22 November, she called Hutchence to say that the hearing had been postponed and that she would not be able to travel on the agreed date. Desperate, the vocalist called Geldof and the two were angry.

A chambermaid discovered Hutchence's body two hours later. He had hanged himself with a belt, which is believed to have been an erotic choking accident that went very wrong.
